May + June Wrap Up

It's been a while since I posted a monthly wrap up As you may have noticed, I have been slowly trying to get back into blogging. There has been topics I wanted to post but missed out on during my absence. I may revisit some of the topics in the future bur for now I'm just trying to move forward. However, I still want to post reviews for some of the books I read while I was gone. I think this post may be long so I will just get into it.

New to My Shelves

I think I have accumulated quite a few books over these two months because let's be real, I have no self control. I have already posted a video of all the books I got in May. If you want you can check out those books here. I also posted a collective Book Outlet haul which was a few month's worth of purchases so feel free to check that out here. I decided to do a summer book haul at the end of August so I will post about the books I got in June later.

Books I Read in May

Food Wars Volume 2 (5 stars) | Food Wars Volume 3 (4.5 stars) | Food Wars Volume 4 (4 stars)

Food Wars Volume 5 (4.5 stars) | Highly Illogical Behavior ( 4 stars) | Nimona ( 4 stars)

Books I Read in June

Illuminae (5 stars) | Rat Queens Volume 2 (4.5 stars) | Rat Queens Volume 3 (2 stars)

2016 Reading Challenge

By the end of June I read a total of 37 books towards my Goodreads goal of 52 books I'm still ahead for this challenge. I 'm sure that I have complete some of the challenges for the Around the Year in 52 Books and the Finishing the Series but I need to look at them and update them. I think I may have even gotten a book for the Around the World challenge.

Quick July Update

July is over so I don't have anything about what's going to happen during the month. I will be doing a wrap up very soon for July so be looking out for that. I'm back and I'm going to do my best to stay consistent!

Goodreads Description

In a land where three suns almost never set, a fledgling killer joins a school of assassins, seeking vengeance against the powers who destroyed her family.

Daughter of an executed traitor, Mia Corvere is barely able to escape her father’s failed rebellion with her life. Alone and friendless, she hides in a city built from the bones of a dead god, hunted by the Senate and her father’s former comrades. But her gift for speaking with the shadows leads her to the door of a retired killer, and a future she never imagined.

Now, Mia is apprenticed to the deadliest flock of assassins in the entire Republic—the Red Church. If she bests her fellow students in contests of steel, poison and the subtle arts, she’ll be inducted among the Blades of the Lady of Blessed Murder, and one step closer to the vengeance she desires. But a killer is loose within the Church’s halls, the bloody secrets of Mia’s past return to haunt her, and a plot to bring down the entire congregation is unfolding in the shadows she so loves.

Will she even survive to initiation, let alone have her revenge?

Why I'm Waiting

I recently read Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and that was more than enough to convince me that I wanted to read more from both authors. I actually found out about this Book Con this year. When I was getting my ARC of Gemina signed, Jay Kristoff briefly talked about it since he was handing out promotional bookmarks.

I feel like it's becoming common to have assassins in YA novels but I still feel like this will be a unique take on the concept. Also, I don't think there is any romance in this book. As much as I love romance  I feel like the introduction to this character can be really powerful if there isn't a romance to distract the main character from her goal.

Look at that beautiful cover. There are a few different things going on and I feel like there will be some symbolism to the story, or at least I hope there is. If there isn't then it's okay because I still love the cover. Did I mention that revenge stories are one of my favorites? If I didn't, they are! I know what I talked about might not really explain why I'm waiting. Just know I'm very excited for this book/trilogy! I have already pre-ordered this book and I can't wait until it gets here!

Do you guys have any thoughts about this book yet?

Top Ten Tuesday: Things Books Have Made Me Want To Do or Learn About After Reading Them

Happy Tuesday everyone! It feels like it has been so long since I've posted to my blog but it's probably only been a few weeks, I think. I'm slowly trying to get back on a schedule so I can start posting here regularly again.

Top  Ten Tuesday is hosted by Broke and the Bookish. This week's theme is things books have made you want to do or learn. Of course I didn't manage to come up with ten. I was trying to only use books I've read so far this year but this ended up being harder than I thought, especially since I was trying to come up with stuff for this between 3-5 am this morning.

Now that I put every last thought I just had running through my head while writing this intro, I will get into the list!

I'm currently rereading this book and it has made me want to paint or learn how to paint. Also, I would love to see colors the Feyre does. The whole experience just seems so magical.

Oh Katniss! If only I could use a bow and arrow as good as you (is this even correct grammar?). If the world ever evolved into one of the many dystopian worlds that are in books today, this skill would be really useful. If that doesn't happen, I think this would still be fun to know how to do.

I didn't know about book blogging before reading this book. After reading about it, I went and looked up the blogging world centered around books and knew almost immediately that I wanted to join. Now here I am!

Have you guys read this manga series? If not, you definitely need to! Anyway, I already somewhat know how to cook and I really enjoy it. However, this manga has increased my passion for food (if that's possible) and has made me want to taste/try to make food from all different origins, especially the recipes included throughout the series.

If I could use/hack a computer like Kady I would be set. I like to think I know how to figure out my way around a computer but what little I can do doesn't even compare. I would love to learn some basic (honestly even more than that) coding.

What are some of the things books have made you want to do or learn about? Also if you participated in this week's Top Ten Tuesday, make sure to leave a link to your TTT.

Top Ten Tuesday: Almost 10 Facts About Me

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Broke and the Bookish. This week's theme is Ten Facts About Me. I think this is a fun way for you guys to get to know a little bit about me and also a way for me to get back into blogging since I have been seriously slacking!

1. I'm a summer baby and a Leo. My birthday is July 24 and I will be turning 24 this year!

2. I'm currently in cosmetology school (I honestly don't know what to do with my life) because I have a passion for hair and learning how to take of it!

3. My ultimate career goal is to be a writer.

4. I love the idea of organization/being organized but I'm probably one of the most unorganized people ever.

5. I'm the only girl of all my siblings.

6. I am a self proclaimed foodie! I love to cook and eat of course lol. I'm willing to try almost any kind of food.

7. I started a Booktube channel for anyone who doesn't already know.

8. I don't really know how to drive. Trying to work on that so I can get my license this year.

I thought this would be a lot easier but it was hard to come up with facts about myself! I couldn't come up with 10 but hopefully you enjoyed the ones I came up with. What's some facts about you?
